The Homeless Dad Who Went Viral For Selling Yau Char Kwai To Support His 2 Daughters Has Passed Away

In October last year, a homeless father went viral after Malaysians learned that he had moved to Selangor from Johor to sell Yau Char kwai to make ends meet.

According to Sin Chew Daily, Joni Saragih, the father had passed away at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Kilang (HTAR) in Kilang on 3 March due to heart failure.
Joni Saragih sold yau char kwai at Restaurant Peng Chu in Seri Kembangan to make ends meet. At his stall he put up a note that says, "I just came from Johor Bahru and I don't have a house to live in. I need to rent a house. Can you help me?". Thus his story has gain a lot of support and sympathy from Malaysian netizen.
Joni started to develop breathing difficulties after two months of constant working and was sent to Serdang Hospital, he needed the publics help to pay for his medical bills. Doctors says that Joni's lungs were filled with fluid due to long hours of frying yao char kwai and he was suffering from heart complications.
Joni is a single father, breadwinner and sole caretaker to his two daughters. However, since his passing, the daughters have since been taken in by the Social Welfare Department (JKM) in Sabak Bernam.
May Joni rest in peace and his daughters stay healthy.
