On January 25, Director-general Ministry of Health Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the government has no intention to extend the second Movement Control Order (MCO 2.0).

He said “We do not want to extend the MCO because this will affect our economy. So we must strike a balance between maintaining our economy and health,”

He added that the country will move forward under a CMCO (Conditional Movement Control Order) after the MCO is end on 4 February, ''If we implement MCO for four weeks, until early February, it will be followed by CMCO for the next three months and through this start, in May, we will be able to bring the case (daily rate) back to two figures'' he said.

The second MCO was initially implemented on 13 January in most states and expected to end on 26 January before it was extended all states in Malaysia, excluding Sarawak, till February 4.

Previously, the nation was shock and went frenzy over a speculations news of a stricter lockdown were mention after the media reported a leaked internal memo by the European Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Eurocham) Malaysia, it is revealed that government will announce a total shutdown/strict lockdown effective immediately after Feb 4 if the infection rate does not decrease.

However, a statement was later released by EuroCham to clarify that this was an unofficial discussion.

Hopefully we can get back to single digit soon. Stay strong and stay safe my fellow MALAYSIAN.
